This Is Me

DSCF1032A

This is me.

I’m in the barn on the farm where I grew up, holding the first lamb to be born there in seven years. She’s one of the realizations of a tightly held dream: to be a farmer and shepherd when I grow up.

Ten minutes after this picture was taken, I nearly fell, my knees giving out, suddenly becoming desperate to lie down.

That was nothing new, though. That sort of thing had been happening for several weeks because of weird health issues. Those challenges have continued, but we’re getting closer to an answer.

That’s part of what I hope this new year will bring: an answer.

The new year will also bring a lot of excitement and change: a new last name, a new house. I’m getting married in May!

We became engaged two weeks after this lamb was born. He asked me under the arches of a covered bridge close to home.

The yes was immediate.

So, the picture and the lamb is one small anchor in the swirl of life that has been 2019. Even when I collapse, there can be new beginnings, the realization of dreams, the love and light of another to see me through.

2020. This is me.
