Just as agriculture is the backbone of society, words are the backbone of communication. Images add flair. A website pulls everything together for a clear message to possible customers or organization members.
Root 61 Communications offers all of these services to pull everything together for your publication or organization.
With ten years of experience in writing news articles, feature stories, video scripts, fiction pieces, and more, I can communicate complex topics in an easily understandable manner. My stories have appeared in many agricultural publications, including Indiana Prairie Farmer, Corn and Soybean Digest, Iowa Farmer Today, Progressive Forage, and Seed World. Topics include agricultural conservation, economics, animal science, and farm transitions.
My experience as a writer also lends well to editing written materials, whether resumes and cover letters or a manual on managing weeds on the farm. I can translate materials from one realm of agriculture or type of writing to another, from academic to news writing. I also provide guidance on basic design for publications.
As a photographer, I can provide photographs to accompany articles or publications.
I work with organizations to revitalize and maintain their online presence, providing a community for members and a place to go for up-to-date information on the events and activities available from the organization.
“Don’t eat kiwis…or Kiwis!” My international perspective on a variety of agricultural topics provides insights that many audiences can take home. I can speak on a variety of topics, from travel to farm work to cultural experiences, and beautiful photographs accompany the presentations. Recent public speaking engagements include Soil and Water Conservation District annual meetings, a county Ag Day Dinner, and an Extension Homemakers’ Achievement Dinner.
